Nurture Self
During uncertain times, nurturing myself becomes a high priority. Gentle yoga is one of my favorite ways to take care of my mind, body and soul. I find a gentle rhythm, release my thoughts, and it becomes a moving meditation. Breathe out (death to the old, release). Breathe in (rebirth, welcome in the new).
When unsure I could make it one more day, this practice on my yoga mat, morning and evening, laid a foundation of calm. This movement enveloped me in a knowing that all is well in my world, even though I was clueless about so many areas of my life at the time. Feeling this nurturing energy strengthened my resolve to move through the unknown.
Some other tools in my toolkit include spending time in solitude in nature, long country walks, journaling, painting, slow cooking, a gentle call with a friend, breathwork, sitting on my back porch appreciating the natural world and heading out on the road. Sometimes what is needed is a gentle review of my boundaries, where I’m giving my energy to, and if I am truly aligned with what is important to me. Different tools work at different times, that’s why I’m always open to expanding my tools and skills to use them. The truth is, I no longer feel alone, lost and ill-prepared for this life journey. When my nervous system is calm, life begins to be the adventure it was meant to be. And so, how are you feeling right now? And what ideas would you like to explore as a means to nurture yourself back into the magic of life?
